Back at the beginning of March, I put together a mini-basket of five commodities stocks that I felt were due for a freefall. Sure enough, for most of the month of March, my short strategy beat the S&P 500, but then, as the financial sector worsened, the commodities bubble began to re-inflate.
I wanted to check back in and see how we are doing with the Divagator’s Commodities Short Mini-Basket. Here are the data:
While the basket has not performed anywhere near expectations, it is still outperforming the S&P 500. On the positive side, market momentum seems to favor the basket, as it has come on strong of late, especially given last week’s financial sector-inspired rally.
