Sadly, I read in The New York Times this weekend that the Seattle Post-Intelligencer may cease publication. The NYT reported:
“The Seattle Post-Intelligencer will stop printing in 60 days unless the newspaper’s owner, the Hearst Corporation, can find a buyer by then, the company said on Friday.
“Hearst said that if it could not find a buyer, it would either shut the paper entirely or make it an Internet-only operation with a much-reduced staff.”
It was just a week earlier that I posted my third installment of “Five Worst Industries for 2009” on newspaper publishing. Things will get worse for newspapers before they get better – if they get better.
